Get to know Ukraine not only by photos!

Many Americans think that Ukraine is a part of Russia or still a part of the Soviet Union. Moreover, when speaking about Ukraine, some well-known Western media very often use The Ukraine, as it was in the USSR. However, our independence is 27 years old, and we are dynamically developing our country, whose capital is 1,636 years old. And you definitely should take tours to Ukraine from USA to see all the beautiful places of this land.

Geographical location of Ukraine allows you to choose the type of rest you like — whether it is a holiday in the mountains in the Carpathians or a beach holiday on the Black Sea in Odessa.

Do you know little about Eastern Europe, and in particular about Ukraine? Do you believe there is nothing interesting here and it would be better to choose a vacation in Italy or France?

There are several reasons why you should consider coming to Ukraine from the USA after all.

Reasons to travel to Ukraine

Another Ancient World

You should agree that Europe is still older, and there are a lot of antiquities and buildings preserved from the 11th century, and even older.

And Ukraine is full of historical heritage. Ukraine has a huge number of castles, the residences of the kings, fortresses, universities, temples, 3 unique Orthodox laurels (a monastery with a special status), as well as salt lakes in the Carpathians, waterfalls, canyons, architectural monuments, traces of vanished civilizations and a huge number of other attractions.

Speaking about the other period, namely the 20th century, we have noticed that our tourists from the USA are particularly interested in the Soviet times because of the relatively recent cold war between the USA and the USSR.

Despite the fact that the Ukrainians today are trying to forget about their Soviet past, especially because of the conflict with Russia, the capital of Ukraine has many monuments of the Soviet era: the Arch of Friendship of Peoples, the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the Motherland Statue, Babi Yar. And the architecture of Kreschatik, the main street of Kyiv, is the newly erected buildings in the post-war period during the reign of Stalin.

It will also be interesting to see the Soviet subway — it is really deep and huge. It could serve as a bomb shelter in the event of a nuclear war. One of Kiev stations is 106 meters deep, which is the world second deepest metro station. And the Golden Gate Station is one of the 10 most beautiful subway stations in the world. You will not see such a metro anywhere in the USA or in Western Europe; it is imbued with the spirit of Soviet monumentalism.

Very affordable prices

Imagine that the average salary of a Ukrainian is $300 a month, and a resident of the capital earns $500. Could you live a month in the USA with such wages? Not likely! However, the cost of life here is respectively lower. The cost of single metro ride is 30 cents, a cup of coffee costs 80 cents, lunch in a good restaurant for two is $35 (salad, main course and a glass of wine for two).

And what about the visitors? Will you be robbed blind when they understand you are a foreigner? It depends where. Do not think that Ukraine is a village. International companies have been working here for a long time; you may see here such hotel chains as Hilton, Hyatt, Intercontinental, Fairmont, etc. Restaurants in Kiev are of a very high level, they value their reputation, quality of food and prices on the menu, both in the Ukrainian version and in the English one. But we are now talking about decent places of middle and high class. If you go for 10km or more from the city center and go to a dubious eatery — be prepared for everything.

Delicious food

Ukrainian cuisine perfectly performs the main task of any national cuisine: to surprise and feed. National Ukrainian cuisine was influenced by Russian and Polish cuisines, but there are such characteristic features that distinguish it from the rest. First of all, the basis of most traditional Ukrainian recipes is pork and lard. It is served as a separate meal or as addition to cereals, soups and snacks. Lard can be smoked, salted, boiled or fried — it is especially tasty with young potatoes and mushrooms. Beetroot, onions and potatoes are eaten more often than the rest of the vegetables here: combine them with eggs, make casseroles and pancakes and, of course, add to the Ukrainian borscht, which is on the list of the most delicious meals in the world. According to some recipes, this soup is made from three dozen ingredients, has a red color and is served exclusively with fatty homemade sour cream.

Restaurants in Ukraine are a separate art. Lviv restaurants are among the most beautiful, interesting theme restaurants in the country. Kiev has more classic traditional places.
